Cobh Summer Swing

Cobh Summer Swing was set up by The Cobh & Harbour Chamber in 2008 to coincide with the arrival of the cruise liner, 'Independence of the Seas',.  At the time she was the largest cruise liner in the world and was on her maiden voyage. The Port of Cork and Cobh Town Council came on board with sponsorship of live music and free entertainment, which we organised for this unique event.  The Independence of the seas brought many thousand of both, domestic and overseas visitors to the town.

In the early years we held only three events per year.  As the cruise liner traffic to Cobh grew so did the number of events.  We have since held as many as ten separate events plus additional  events for local community groups,  most of them coinciding with large cruise liners coming to Cork Harbour Cruise Terminal in Cobh.

The stall holders market, which is on the promenade 100 metres from where the cruise liners berth, normally has stalls selling local arts and crafts and artisan food.  We always have a free community or charity stall where local groups can raise much needed funds.

We have always believed that local arts and craft should  be fostered and given the opportunity to sell their products for a nominal fee.

In 2000 The Chamber of Commerce, stepped back from being directly involved and set up a core group of local traders to run the events.   Summer Swing runs as a none profit organisation.
